If you didn’t already know, we’re passionate about using evidence-based approaches in all of our sleep work – and we’re always keeping an eye out for the latest research around children’s sleep. One topic that often comes up when parents reach out to us is whether supporting independent sleep habits (especially with babies sleeping in their own cot) could negatively affect attachment. It’s a valid concern, and one we hear regularly – especially from parents of little ones, though we also support children up to age 10.
From the beginning, our stance has been that the research simply doesn’t back up those fears. So, whenever new studies on sleep and attachment are published, we make sure to take a close look.
